Alice In Wonderland Essay

Did you ever wonder why authors would use wordplay? Authors use it because they are trying to make a serious situation in to a humorous one. They know what peooples concerns are and try to make humor out of it. The type of writting they use is Diction is the choice of words one uses to express something,Syntax is the arrangement of word in sentence, Lexicon is specialized vocabulary, Personification is giving things their human qualities, Assonance is the repetion of a vowel sound with in a sentence, Alliteration is repetition of a sound in words with in a sentence, Repetition is constant words in a sentnece being repeated over and over again, and a Pun is two words that sound alike but have different meanings.
An author will use these to make something dull lively. They try to get the reader to engange in the story.
In Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll he uses wordplay throughout his book. He uses Repetition, Pun, Personification, Alliteration, Lexicon, Assonance, Diction, Syntax.
In the story Lewis uses that "I like what I get" is the same thing as "I get what I like"!' pg. 69 as syntax. He's humorous like when he says that the king says "Give your evidence and don't be nervous or i'll have you executed on the spot." Because the Hatter was missunderstood and the queen and King thought that he stole the hats he was wearing. Also teh Queen kept going aoround saying off with their head for something so pointless. he was making fun of tha queen of england at teh time and succeded.
So this is to me why authors use wordplay. To make bad situations funny where people can understand them and have a good laugh. its to be enjoyable.
